Stress
is defined as “A state or mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from
adverse or very demanding circumstances”
Finals,
test, papers, bill payments, lost earring, loss of a friend or family member.
All of these things bring some type of stress either a minor panic or an “Oh my
goodness what I am going to do now” stress in your life neither of which is not
the good kind of stress – yes good stress does exist here are a few article to
about it: Article 1,
Article 2, Article 3
-
Personally,
I am not the best when it comes to handling stress. When I stress I tend to
become really frustrated-as most would I assume- which in turn causes me to
stress even more. It’s a never ending cycle for me until I am to complete that
task. On the brighter side of all of this I have found different methods to
calm me down during and after that helps me get through the stressful time and
relax after wards.
Breath
When
you’re in the middle of a stress whirlwind it is always important to breath.
Take a second to take a deep breath and release some of the negative energy and
tension that you are holding on too. You may have to do this a couple of times
but trust me you will feel better.
Take
a break
Sometimes
when it all gets too much it’s important that you walk away from whatever the situation
and problem is. This is a good way to collect yourself and helps take your mind
off the thing that is bothering you.
Listen
to music
I
feel like I always say listen to music but in reality it is one way to help you
distress or forget about something temporarily even if it is just a 20 minute
dance part alone in your room.
Write
it out
If
you are like me you and enjoy writing you would find keeping a journal is
something that is a good –therapeutic even- way to let out everything you are
thinking or feeling about the subject. Honestly, I feel like sometimes writing
out it easier than talking to someone, I’m not saying don’t because sometimes
it is good to talk to people but I believe writing is more of a way to express
the things you really don’t want to share with other people.
Ask
for help
Many
people believe that asking for help isn’t a good thing to do but really it is
something that you should do especially if you really cannot figure out
something that may be important. Asking for help is nothing to be ashamed of, I
think of it as something to be proud of because you can say you learned
something new.
